Adele was surprised to see Harvey hanging around her house when she got back from work, and not in the good way. She never wanted to see him again and desperately hoped he'd only come over to discuss her alimony. Unfortunately he'd come to complain about the fact he was going to be a dad again.
"You've made your bed, now lie in it!"
Harvey may have been freaking out, but Adele was perfectly happy with her own metaphorical bed and was lying in it as much as possible. She'd met a guy at work and thought he was smoking hot, and he seemed fond of her already too. He was a young man called Colby - very young, in fact. Freshly graduated from an out of state university. He was kind and sweet and naïve and Adele didn't want to burden him with an older divorcee with kids of her own, but at the same time she wanted to throw off the shackles of life with Harvey...
...and he seemed more than willing to help. They arranged a date for the next Saturday night - "as friends," said Adele.Colby nodded. "As friends."
Unfortunately it turned out to be a bit harder than Adele expected to just stay "friendly". But hey, kissing's pretty friendly, right? They didn't go any further. She'd had time to think about it and she was pretty sure she didn't want to get involved with someone again, maybe not ever.
Colby was very understanding and even though he'd clearly fallen head over heels for her he didn't push the issue. They stayed friends, and he even pulled a few strings for her at work and often let her be promoted over him. She felt kind of bad - wasn't this using him? He insisted he didn't mind.
Adele wasn't the only one getting attention from the neighborhood men. There were a couple of boys Maya's age who kept giving her the eye but she ignored them. The whole mess with her parents had made her extremely wary and she had better things to focus on. She wanted to be rich and successful, and getting a boyfriend and all the drama that came with relationships could only distract her.
It didn't stop poor little Gabriel King following her around though!Note: I would get Adele and Colby together but she hasn't had any romantic wants for him since the date, and anyway he's a Family sim and ACR decrees she's too old to have babies. Harvey stopped by autonomously - he didn't even ring the doorbell, just wandered in like he owned the place! Jerk!
I think Adele and Colby would be cute together. Maybe he is what she needs to get over her bitterness. They could always adopt.
