Round Ten - King 2 - Keeping Up With the Kids

Alima and Duncan are elders but they're as passionate as ever, and their son Gabriel is readying himself for a life of painting fruit and living on ramen noodles as he prepares for University.

"Oh, hi Jace."

"Hi mom! I didn't wake you, did I?"

"You've never had a bad reason for calling me," said Alima into the reciever. "Or no reason, either. So how's Solveig doing? Did she enjoy the third pregnancy or did she want to punch you into space? And how's my grandson?"

Jace laughed. "She's fine, and so's George."

Duncan's age hadn't stopped his life-long desire to stay "cool" and up to date with the trends, to the point of getting into chats with any teenage friends Gabriel brought home. Alima thought it was all a little silly but she didn't say anything about it. Unfortunately, they both brought their "cool" factor (and Gabriel's, too) way down by wandering around the house in their PJs all day.

Duncan tried to explain the latest fads in music to Adele but she didn't get it. She'd never been particularly hip, or whatever the word was these days...

Gabriel knew he wanted to major in art already; he could almost taste the world-wide acclaim he'd get as an artist and it was the only thing on his mind.

Well, almost the only thing on his mind.

"No, you can't paint me! I know what teenage boys are like, it'll just be a study of my boobs. And don't ask me to see your etchings, either."

Gabriel was kind of annoyed by the constant rebuffs (heading off to university having never been kissed was embarrassing) but he knew he had a higher calling. Plus, well, maybe college girls would be a bit less picky, and he still carried a small torch for Ashlee Rodiek...

  1. Hopefully Gabriel finds a girl in college that likes the artsy type and he can get his first kiss. College girls are much more mature, anyways.
