Round Nine - Bhalli - Entirely Stable

The Bhallis are a family of four now - Jace and Solveig and their daughters Victoria and Caroline.

Victoria "Vikki" Bhalli is many things but an intellectual isn't one of them. Getting her to do her homework is an uphill struggle, she whines when you ask her to do it and might not even finish it. Her parents don't understand. She's far from stupid, so why does she have such a problem with homework? They've sat with her and taught her to study but it doesn't seem to have helped.

The youngest Bhalli, Caroline, is still tiny and adorable but she'll be reaching school age soon. Jace wishes she could stay this way forever, but all little girls grow up and start causing their daddy trouble eventually.

His own mother Alima turns up out of the blue after her shift at a Sim City fast food place to visit her granddaughters. She's never really spent all that much time around them and is amazed at how much they've grown.

"Are you planning on having any more children?" Alima asks her daughter-in-law as they sit down for a late lunch. "Personally, two pregnancies were enough for me. But I wouldn't exactly mind having more grandchildren!"

From any other mother-in-law this might be a bit pressurising or at least embarrassing, but Alima has a way about her. Solveig just smiles. "Not quite yet. Jace would like another one, maybe a baby boy, but we're going to wait until Caroline has started school before we try."

That day came surprisingly quickly. Caroline was a sweet little girl who hung on her big sister's every word, regardless of whether said words made sense or not. They weren't exactly buddies, though. Vikki had difficulty interacting in ways other than bragging or teasing.

Jace was surprised when he got back from work to see Solveig standing by the door in her skimpiest night-dress. "What's up? Not that I'm complaining!"

"I was thinking... I did promise we could try for another baby..."
