Round Eleven - Bachman/Darwin - Opening the Relationship

Liliana King has graduated and moved to an apartment back in town. Theoretically they could have their little trysts there, but Tom can't be bothered to keep things secret anymore. After all, he and Allyn aren't exclusive anymore. Not that they ever officially were, it just... happened.

But Tom forgot an important factor - when Drake walked in on his daddy making out with someone who most definitely was not his mommy, they had a lot of explaining to do. Perhaps they should have been more discreet in case they scarred Drake for life... but he seemed to understand quickly.

Tom's barely looked at another woman since Drake was born but Liliana's given him his mojo back. They hired a maid recently, seeing as both he and Allyn would rather paint and mess around than do the household chores, and he can't help but check her out. Then there's also the matter of all the other hot co-eds he met when visiting Liliana at SSU...

Allyn's not exactly in the same place. She's got no qualms about the notion of an open relationship but there's no-one she wants to see more than Tom. She's been head over heels since he made fun of her at their first dorm party. Sure, she dated other people when they were apart, but none of them made her swoon like Tom does.

Despite everything, Drake manages to grow up into a well-adjusted (and very handsome!) young man, but he's still nothing like his parents. In fact, all he wants from life is to learn, and that's why he wants to go to a private academy rather than the town high school.

Tom can't grasp the concept. "What do you want to go to some stuffy private school for? All your friends go to Serenity Hills High, don't you?"
Drake sighs. "It's not about that. Serenity Hills High is fine, but a lot of the kids there aren't particularly... driven. Neither are some of the teachers. Frankly, I think I'd do better at the academy. It's not like I can't see my friends outside of school, and I know we've got the money to pay for the fees so don't give me that."
Allyn says nothing. Dedicated slackers, they both have no clue how they've manage to raise a child like Drake.

Drake ends up having to make all the arrangements himself but despite his parents' apathy he has no problem getting in. This added show of ambition and a true desire to be the best he can be only improves the headmaster's view that he'd be a credit to the academy.

  1. I'm glad that Drake grew up ok; he seems to have a good head on his shoulders too. Arranging his own private school, almost seems more mature than the adults. That's crazy that Allyn doesn't care that Tom fools around, though she doesn't do it herself. I wonder what kind of relationship Drake will prefer as he gets older.

  2. I love Drake to bits. I was really happy when he rolled knowledge as his aspiration, it suits him down to the ground seeing as his favourite topic of conversation was always school! I think he'll be okay, he's got a good head on his shoulders despite his parentage ;)
